As our Gameplay Animator, you will create impactful character animations, creature animations, and animations for other in-game objects. You will work very closely with game designers and programmers to scope out the animation needs of our projects. You will be responsible for preparing materials for motion capture, you will participate in directing the mocap sessions, you will assist external service providers with final clean-up, and you will implement the cleaned-up animations into the game.
When needed, you should be willing to jump into a mocap suit yourself to address unexpected or minor character animation needs that arise during production. Finally, you will create keyframe animation assets when motion capture is unsuitable, and you will use the in-engine Sequencer tool to setup in-game cutscenes.
Responsibilities
- Create high quality animation assets that communicate motion effectively for the in-game camera perspective.
- Work closely with gameplay programmers and designers to scope out the animation needs of the project and prepare materials for external motion capture providers.
- Assist with final clean-up, fixes, and improvements to motion captured assets.
- Create keyframe animation assets for creatures or objects where mocap is unsuitable.
- Animate in-game cutscenes using Unreal Engine’s Sequencer tool.
- Pro-actively seek ways to improve the look, feel, and overall quality of animations throughout the game.
Desired qualifications
- Experience with character animation on at least one commercial title.
- Experience working with motion captured assets using MotionBuilder.

- Strong inter-personal and communication skills in English.
- Basic familiarity with the Unreal Engine is a plus.

- An understanding of – and interest in – roleplaying games is a big plus.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Application deadline: January 20th, 2023.

Finally, you will own the animation setup in the Unreal Engine and seek new ways to improve the way animations are implemented.
Responsibilities
- Skin and rig characters.
- Establish and maintain the animation pipeline.
- Manage the library and list of animation clips, and keep track of what is used where, under general directions and support from the Art Director.
